Rainwater tanks
Ozone is the most powerful sanitiser and kills bacteria in your rain water tank naturally
Simple Plug & Play Installation
The NOVOZONE TD Series rainwater tank ozonators are
plug & play solutions that require no plumbing and can
be easily installed by the property owner.
The ozonator produces ozone under pressure, which is delivered through a diffuser and gently bubbled through the water to naturally sanitise the tank.
Simply mount the ozonator in a sheltered location near a 230V power outlet, lower the ozone diffuser into the tank, and connect the ozone delivery hose.
That's all that's required to begin treating your stored rainwater.
Why Ozone for Rainwater Tanks?
As more people recognise the importance of conserving water, rainwater collection tanks are becoming increasingly common. However, not all rainwater is the same.
Ozone is one of the most powerful natural sanitisers available, helping to keep stored rainwater clean without the use of chemicals.
- Naturally kills bacteria and other microorganisms in stored rainwater
- Removes unpleasant odours and discolouration
- Improves water taste – no more stale-smelling water
- Chemical-free water treatment
- Simple DIY installation
- Low running costs and inexpensive to operate

Rain Water
Rainwater has long been viewed as a safe and reliable source of domestic water. However, rainwater is often exposed to a range of pollutants. National studies have shown that the microbiological quality of roof-collected rainwater can be poor. In a Ministry of Health study, more than 90% of water samples failed to meet New Zealand drinking water standards.
Pathogens
The pathogens identified included E. coli, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Salmonella, and Campylobacter, all of which can cause gastrointestinal illness. The most common sources of these contaminants are faecal deposits from birds, possums, and rodents, along with dead animals and insects that enter the water collection system.
Sickness
Those most at risk from contaminated rainwater include young children, the elderly, and visitors who are not accustomed to local water supplies. Fortunately, these risks can be greatly reduced by treating the water with ozone.
Ozone Kills Micro-organisms
Ozone is a powerful natural oxidiser that destroys bacteria, viruses, and other micro-organisms on contact by rupturing their cell walls. Unlike UV treatment, which only prevents micro-organisms from reproducing, ozone eliminates them directly. Ozone is chemical-free and leaves no unpleasant aftertaste like chlorine.
Ozone Destroys Odours
Rainwater tanks can develop unpleasant tastes and odours due to contamination from decomposing birds, small animals, insects, leaves, and other organic matter. Smoke from nearby fireplaces can also affect water quality. During extended dry periods, warm temperatures can cause stored rainwater to develop a stale taste. Ozone rapidly breaks down the organic compounds responsible for these unwanted tastes and odours, restoring fresh, clean-tasting water.
Great Tasting Water
Ozone produces no harmful by-products. Any unused ozone naturally reverts to oxygen, increasing the level of dissolved oxygen in the water. The result is clean, fresh-tasting water that is naturally sparkling, healthy, and pleasant to drink.
